More Information

The Conference will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Whatcom Community College, Syre Student Center, Bellingham, WA. Each workshop (90 min) is presented only once during the day and is held either during the morning or the afternoon time slot.

Our theme this year is:

Remaining Awake Together: Nurturing a Revolution of Values.

These are the values that Dr. King gave his life for.

Therefore, we are asking that all submissions include in their proposal the following:

  • How your workshop relates to the theme of the conference.
  • How your workshop reflects and honors Dr. King.
  • The ways in which your session’s presentation will engage, inspire, and empower participants.
  • The age group(s) that would gain the most from your session.

We encourage workshop presenters to commit to attending the full day of the Conference, if possible, so participants can speak with and learn from you throughout the day. Workshops that offer fresh perspectives about the impact of systemic violence on our communities will have preference.

If you have an idea for a workshop that reflects the heart of Dr. King’s message and would like support in bringing the idea to fruition, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

The Conference doors open at 9 AM for registration and the last event concludes at 4 PM. The conference will feature a keynote presentation, and morning and afternoon workshop sessions. During the lunch break, there will be food vendors on site, as well as various opportunities for informal social interaction and individual creative expression. Community resource tables and light refreshments will be available throughout the day in the foyer/registration area.

Thank you for considering this invitation. We look forward to receiving your Workshop Proposal.
